I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Florida and a Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling from Mercer University. I am licensed as a professional mental health counselor in Georgia (LPC00983) and Washington (LH 61339763). I am a National Board Certified Counselor (NCC) and am certified by the Interdisciplinary Council on Development and Learning, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting each person's development to its fullest potential.
For over a decade, I have provided mental health counseling to individuals, groups, and families in home-based, educational, and private practice environments.
Anxiety, depression, and stress management
Grief related to the death of a family member or friend due to addiction, suicide, and long term illness
Transitional issues associated with adolescence, young adulthood, and midlife
Crises of faith, spirituality, and existential concerns
Relational challenges
Gender and sexuality exploration
Unresolved childhood experiences
Alcoholic family systems
Parent coaching to strengthen collaborative problem solving skills and family communication
Developmental differences and social-emotional challenges including Autism and ADHD
My overall approach is person-centered, believing that you are the expert on your own life and that growth is cultivated through a safe, empathetic, and nonjudgmental relationship.
Attuned to your specific needs and goals, I seek to help strengthen your:
Self-awareness
Self-compassion
Emotional tolerance & expression
Overall problem solving & coping skills
As we work together, I integrate aspects of several evidence-based practices including Mindfulness-based stress reduction, Attachment-based family therapy, Cognitive behavioral therapy, Affirmative therapy for LGBTQ+ individuals, and Narrative therapy.
In raising three children, including a child with a developmental disability, I have learned to more fully embrace life's uncertainties with hope and humor. Additionally, having lost several family members, I intimately understand the impact of grief and trauma, and the ways that such experiences can both limit and expand our view of the way forward.
It is my hope that no matter your life challenges, the counseling process opens within you a renewed sense of resilience and possibility.
